Building James to play ‘Woodstock’!

August 2nd, 2011

Building James will be appearing at the ‘Woodstock’ music festival on August 13th, at Riverside Park in Raymond, NH.  This is an all day event, featuring many local bands!  Building James is currently slated to play from 4:00 to 4:30pm.  This is a show you will not want to miss!  In addition to being the rock assault you’ve come to expect from Building James, we will be appearing with a very special guest.  Our drummer Donny Blaney is currently sidelined with a knee injury.  In his place, we will be backed up on the drums by our original drummer Ben Belcourt!

hey… remember us?!

May 7th, 2011

Hey all – I know we have been off the radar for a while, but I promise it was worth it. I’m sitting in Studio 154, listening to the latest (and hopefully final) guitar tracks for our first EP. It’s pretty awesome, I must admit.

Ok, so what’s next?

Well, as far as today goes – first I’ll finish this pint and then I think we are going to bang out some acoustic stuff while we are here in the studio. I’d hate to waste Bob’s time (our incredible sound engineer). We have a bunch of new material, so who knows what we are going to track. You’ll just have to wait and see… 😉

Moving forward:

I know we’ve been teasing for a couple of months with “new shows”, but I promise it’s not a false front. We’ve had a couple of things lined up that actually fell through (out of our control). As I type, we have a couple of shows lining up that we are just confirming – so stay tuned.

Once this recording thing is all done (which admittedly has taken ten times longer than we hoped) we are going to be back full-force in everyone’s face.

Building James is ready to give the seacoast a rock & roll ass-kicking… with a new record in hand!

Cheers everyone!

Update: shows, video, surprise apearances and a kick-ass house party!

November 8th, 2010

Hey all, so much going on. It’s clear Building James is growing momentum – big time.

First off, thanks to David Cassidy, Mel and the entire BJ crew for organizing the most kick ass Halloween house party ever. The night was already getting crazy, but when Building James showed up and played a surprise private show – the walls came down. We all had a great time!

Not only are we still wrapping up the final touches on our CD, now there “may” be talk of a professional music video to compliment the release. Hopefully we will have some more info on that soon.

And.. just to see who reads this… Building James may be doing a surprise appearance in downtown Portsmouth this Wednesday (11/10). Pay attention to our Facebook page for the last-minute updates on time/location. 😉

Building James – It’s what’s for breakfast

Recording update, new shows announced… Get ready for us!

October 6th, 2010

As most of you know, we’ve recently spent some time in the studio recording our first EP. It won’t be long now. We have selected the tracks we like, and are getting to the end of the mixing process. Before long, you can expect to hear a bunch of new material. We are also going to be starting a big radio push when the mastered tracks are finally ready. At that time we’ll call on all of Building James Nation to step up and help us break through… It’s all lining up… MUHAHAHAAHAAAA!!!

Also, two new shows announced!

Oct 9th @ The Grog, Newburyport
Nov 19th @ The Chit Chat, Haverhill

Now that the recording phase is wrapping up, we reckon it’s time to lay down some Rock and Roll ass kicking!

Thanks to everyone for all the support, and we’ll see you at the upcoming shows.

Cheers!
BJ

New show announced! Building James w/ The Hollow Glow – LIVE!

August 17th, 2010

We are very excited to announce that Building James is going to be playing with The Hollow Glow (featuring half of the band RA) on Friday, Sept 10 at Milly’s Tavern. This really is going to be a great night. Both bands have torn the Milly’s stage up in the past, but now we are sharing the stage for what will surely be a Full-Frontal ROCK ASSAULT.

Be sure and mark your calendar – Friday, Sept. 10 @ Milly’s Tavern in Manchester.

Recording Update – 2 days, 9 songs, 3 fits… and tons of awesome!

July 27th, 2010

It’s official – our first studio release is recorded!

Let’s not celebrate just yet, that just means that all the tracks are done. Now it needs to go off to New York to get mixed and mastered. Regardless, this is a huge milestone for the band.

We spent the past weekend at Big T Productions in Quincy Ma, laying down the foundation for what we think is going to be an original sounding, kick-ass record. More updates to come soon, but just as a teaser – here is the track list (in no order):

  • Baby Let’s Go
  • Gun
  • Heavy Hearted
  • Simple Machine
  • Steady With You
  • Still Around
  • Up To You
  • The Storm
  • On Top

We only have the very rough soundboard mix for now, but already these tracks are generating a lot of buzz and excitement. Building James… it’s the next big thing 😉

We’re playing at Newburyport’s Yankee Homecoming this weekend (7/31), so be sure and come hang out!

ChesterFest and more!

April 30th, 2010

Wow, what a week it has been for Building James. Our good friend Jay from Edmonton flew in last weekend, and has been lending his able hands to the renovation of Studio 154, where we do all of our recording… Speaking of which, the drum tracks for our forthcoming release are complete! Next up Bass and Guitars, then vocals.

And while we’re talking about vocals, Andrew has been out of commission since Tuesday, when he underwent surgery and had a cyst removed from his toungue (GROSS!). But he’s a trooper! Building James will STILL be appearing at the Chester College ChesterFest! this Saturday, May 1st. We are also filling in the May calendar nicely with appearances scheduled for OBrien’s in Boston on May 9th and The Grog in Newburyport on May 20th! More on those shows coming shortly…

That’s the latest scoop from our side of things. We hope to see you at an upcoming show! If you can make it, be sure and let us know. We’ll give you a shout out for the effort. Oh, and make sure you grab plenty of stickers when you see us! We are always looking for new and interesting pictures of the Building James stickers in unique places. So gram some stickers, stick em somewhere cool, and send us a pic!

Cheers,
-Daniel

Oh yeah, come see me rocking the Team Canada jersey at the ChesterFest show. A bet lost will be honoured (Canadian spelling!).

Back in the studio – The vibe is awesome!

April 12th, 2010

This weekend marked the official return of Building James to the studio. It’s long overdue, but so far we are all pumped with the results. The sessions are going towards the production of our first full-length record. More details will become available as it comes together.

Huge thanks to Ben Carroll (Ra, The Hollow Glow) for coming by to talk about proper mic techniques and multi-tracking procedures. Ben has recorded three national releases, in major recording studios, so his feedback is greatly appreciated. We are also happy to be playing a show this summer with Ben’s new band. ROCK.

I wish we could open the doors to the masses, but Building James has been invited to play at Chester College’s two day campus music event “Chesterfest” on May 1st. This is a campus-only show, so if you know someone at the school, now is the time to save the date.

Thanks to everyone for all the continuing support. Building James Nation is strong! Come out and see us live at The Grog, April 22.

Cheers!

Updates and Stuff

April 4th, 2010

Thanks to everyone that came out on April 1st to The Grog in Newburyport. The crowd was crazy, the vibe was awesome, and the energy was fantastic. Also, huge props to The Caufields for coming down to play with us. We’ve played with them a number of times, and it’s always a great time. Show em’ some love and go see them if you get the chance.

Thanks again to Jarvisuals for helping to promote. Don is a madman. He even managed to catch the show after being awake for some ludicrous about of time after being called into action with the Army to help with the recent flooding.

We are returning to The Grog on April 22nd, so be sure and come out. We are playing with The Max Sullivan Group, and i believe we go on first this time. Expect the music to begin around 9pm. I’ll post an update once the details work themselves out.

Building James nation is growing very quickly. Over the next couple of weeks we are going to posting a bunch of website updates, new show dates, downloads and more. Don’t miss it!
